Acorn Lighting Services is a street furniture maintenance company based in Harrogate in North Yorkshire. The company operates in a number of regions within Yorkshire and Lancashire to inspect, fit and maintain street lights and other illuminated highway furniture.
THE CHALLENGE
Acorn Lighting Services operates 20-strong fleet, made up of mostly access platform vehicles and hi-ab trucks from two sites located in Harrogate and Stockport. The company recognised that greater visibility and control over its vehicle fleet could achieve increased productivity and operating efficiencies, whilst providing an effective safeguard against vehicle theft.
THE SOLUTION

The system has allowed the company to coordinate its vehicle fleet more effectively, enhancing productivity and realising time and cost savings across its business.

To date, productivity has been increased by more than 11 per cent enabling the optimisation and streamlining of the fleet operation. Elsewhere, other fleet-related savings have included a reduction in overtime claims and a decrease in fuel usage.
C-track has also allowed Acorn Lighting Services to better serve its customers. Jobs are now completed quicker and more effectively, and real-time vehicle tracking has enabled the company to provide a more responsive maintenance service. In addition, enhanced reporting capability provides customers with an accurate breakdown of work undertaken.
Fleet security has been improved with vehicle status alerts via text message and flexible geofencing capability providing a safeguard against theft and added peace of mind. Using the C-track solution, Acorn Lighting Services receives immediate warning of any unauthorised movements, enabling them to minimise the potential impact of vehicle crime on their business.
